Reflections on the Early Development of ASAPgreen

During the early part of my research, before I left Chicago I went to 9 different gas stations 3 urban, 3 suburban and 3 rural.

I stayed at each for 4 hours, watching from adjacent parking lots.

I timed the customers who were there to buy gas from the time they got to the pump till the time they left the property.

The average time was about 7.5 minutes.

So effectively, people were able to enjoy the value of a commodity that was mostly gleaned in other countries and despite the process and the cost of getting it to them it only took them 7.5 minutes.

This is no small feat.

That is why I am glad here are some good signs of lateral investment and movement, because we need the geniuses who have those types of abilities to take their talents in new directions.

What if those systems experts who work for those oil companies were working on New Energy? We would have the best thinkers in the energy industry putting their heads into all this at exactly the right time. Some of them already are, I know.

I always tell people who say to me that the demand for gas is rising that it is not really the case. Gas is just the commodity from which we derive the values. If we would provide that value through a different commodity the demand would continue to rise. The only reason the demand for gas is rising is because it is the only thing we are allowed to use to enjoy the values we love so much.

So I am very grateful for the commodity, and I always make that very clear. But when the costs of a commodity begin to eclipse the value.. well. we just have a very rational decision to make.

  • What do you think are the most important things the Established Energy Industry can be doing to make the lateral moves into New Energy?
  • What are 3 things you would communicate to the Established Energy Industry right now?
  • Do you think these companies are doing enough quickly enough to really make a difference?
